Our History

1998–2005

Founded in 1998 as a woman-owned small business, Imagine One quickly established itself as a trusted partner to the U.S. Navy. By 1999, the company achieved HUBZone certification and secured its first prime contract supporting NAVWAR. In 2003, Imagine One earned 8(a) certification and received the Fantastic Fifty award the following year. By 2005, the company had grown to more than 100 employees, laying the groundwork for long-term success.

2006–2011

Imagine One’s rapid growth continued in 2006, expanding to 150 employees and earning recognition on the Washington Technology Fast Fifty list in 2008. By that time, the workforce had grown to 230 employees. During this period, the company celebrated its 10-year anniversary, expanded its corporate headquarters in Lexington Park, Maryland, and grew its operational footprint in Charleston, South Carolina, and Norfolk, Virginia. Imagine One also achieved CMMI Development Level 3 appraisal, strengthening delivery excellence.

2013–2017

In 2013, Imagine One marked its 15-year anniversary with significant growth, exceeding 400 employees and winning four prime contracts supporting all three major Navy system commands—NAVSEA, NAVWAR, and NAVAIR. The company continued to expand its prime contract portfolio in 2014 with two additional NAVAIR awards and transitioned to employee ownership. This momentum carried through 2015 with an SBIR Phase III award and continued in 2016 with four additional prime contracts supporting NAVAIR and NAVSEA. In 2017, Imagine One secured its largest prime contract to date in support of NAVSEA.

2018–2020

In 2018, Imagine One celebrated its 20-year anniversary, reflecting two decades of sustained Navy support. In 2020, the company achieved NAVSEA Quality Management System (QMS) certification and earned three ISO accreditations, further reinforcing its commitment to disciplined processes, compliance, and operational excellence across defense programs.

2021–2025

From 2021 through 2025, Imagine One continued to strengthen its position as a trusted Navy partner while deepening its employee-owned culture. In 2021, the company successfully recompeted a NAVSEA prime contract and became majority employee owned. In 2022, Imagine One was awarded a NIWC Atlantic prime contract, followed in 2023 by a second NIWC Atlantic prime and a NAVAIR prime contract. That same year, the company celebrated its 25-year anniversary and achieved CMMI Level 3 appraisal for both Development and Services. Recognized as a Top Workplace in 2024 and 2025, Imagine One proudly became 100% employee owned in 2025—ensuring every solution is delivered by professionals personally invested in performance and results.

Imagine One provides comprehensive cyber security services fully aligned with DoD and Department of the Navy (DON) Directives. The Imagine One team supports the full RMF Lifecyle by performing system categorization, control selection, implementation, assessment, and continuous monitoring to ensure mission systems meet all cybersecurity compliance mandates. Our process ensures a smooth path to Authority to Operate (ATO), minimizing delays and risk to operations.

As an SEI CMMI Level 3 organization, Imagine One systems engineering support applies overarching engineering fundamentals to the product development and support life cycle, providing rigorous adherence to process in execution.  Our seasoned systems engineers support DoD acquisition programs, CMMI compliance management, process analysis and streamlining, design and engineering, product integration and software development for numerous customers, including NAVSEA, NAVAIR and NAVWAR.

Imagine One provides a wide variety of life cycle logistics services for both domestic and FMS programs for NAVAIR, NAVWAR, NAVSEA, US Marine Corps and the US Coast Guard. Our seasoned professionals provide logistics and material readiness support in several functional areas, including maintenance policy and programs, training, configuration management, material readiness, resource management, supply chain integration and transportation policy.

Imagine One provides full-spectrum support across the FMS lifecycle—leveraging decades of experience with U.S. Navy program offices and advanced weapons systems.

Imagine One provides comprehensive project and program management support to US DoD customers, including NAVAIR, NAVSEA, NAVWAR, Carrier Planning Activity (CPA), and Foreign Military Sales (FMS) programs. Our expert managers, many of whom are certified Project Management Professionals (PMP) by the Project Management Institute (PMI), use their knowledge, skills and techniques to execute projects effectively and efficiently, and are adept at improving customer organization performance through their expert execution of proven management processes.

Imagine One provides Training Management Support Services (TMSS) for the Navy under the NMMES contract, as well as the Japan FMS program, and supports the Marine Corps Aviation Learning Management Systems (MCALMS) for both the V-22 domestic and Japan FMS Program and multiple other platforms. Imagine One’s experience aligns with DoD’s Advanced Distributed Learning (ADL) structure, enabling us to provide training support with several benefits to the customer:
